Based in Limerick, Nenagh and recently opened a new Hair and Scalp Clinic in Portaloise, New Hair Clinic is proud to deliver hair loss and scalp complaint diagnosis/treatments to men, women and children who may be suffering from male & female pattern baldness, hair loss, autoimmune alopecia conditions, thinning hair, scalp eczema, itchy scalp, dandruff, psoriasis, seborrheic dermatitis and many more.
Such conditions are often caused by diet, nutrition and digestive complications, menopause, stress and issues within the immune, endocrine or cardiovascular systems.
Our role through our extensive experience and detailed consultations, is to put together a picture of contributing symptoms and facts of hair loss and scalp conditions to create an accurate diagnosis.
Following the diagnosis we take time to carefully explain the condition to you, to deliver clarity and understanding as to why this has happened. We then put forward a coherent set of treatment options that are the most relevant and effective to improve your hair density or scalp health.

New Hair Clinic was created when Eva Ilascu became aware of the lack of access to specialist, fully qualified and accredited Trichologists with in Ireland . On opening the clinics she found herself facing many questions, such as:
• “Why am I Losing My Hair?”
• “Why Is My Scalp So Itchy?”
• “Should I Be Concerned That My Hair Is Thinning?”
“It became evident that her clients were struggling to get professional answers to their questions, and that they felt their concerns weren’t being treated seriously with care and empathy.”

At New Hair Clinic, she understand that hair loss is often an upsetting and emotional subject. Strong emotional support is offered by our thoughtful team, alongside seasoned advice about what to expect when you are diagnosed with certain conditions or disorders.

After noticing an increase in women seeking treatment for hair loss and thinning while going through menopause, she felt compelled to highlight their connection in the hopes of educating women on the early signs of hair loss and thinning, and what to look out for. Eva hopes that this can help them take preventable measures in restarting their hair growth cycle before it’s too late and direct them to her clinic where they can avail of her services. She wants those who are experiencing hair loss or thinning to know that there is a solution and not to give up hope!

Hair loss in menopause
Menopause is a natural biological process that affects all women and which typically occurs between the ages of 45 and 55.
During menopause, the body goes through numerous physical changes as it adjusts to fluctuating hormone levels. The most common, and most talked about symptoms, are hot flashes, mood swings, night sweats, weight gain, lack of energy and insomnia.
Unfortunately though, about 40% of women going through menopause also experience hair loss, which manifests itself in the form of an overall thinning on the frontal hair line and/or in the crown area.

Hair loss during menopause is caused by an hormonal imbalance, specifically related to a natural decline of estrogen and progesterone levels which all women start experiencing in there mid-thirties. These hormonal changes may not be visible for years, but when they affect someone who already has a genetic sensitivity to dihydrotestosterone (DHT), hair loss quickly becomes more apparent. Another hormone shift that happens for women later in life, can be an increase in the production of androgens, or a group of male hormones, which additionally impact hair follicles by causing them to shrink.

Although the main cause of hair loss in women going through menopause is related to hormonal changes, other factors, such as high levels of stress, poor nutrition, illness, poor hydration and also insomnia, can also play an important role in the well being of your hair. You may not know this but stress can very much affect estrogen production, causing an imbalance that affects brain chemistry, which in turn triggers mood swings, anxiety, and depression.
Keeping stress levels under control is important as stress can directly affect a person’s ability to absorb nutrients, as well as increasing the body’s nutritional requirements.

By increasing levels of the declining hormones in the scalp, the New Hair Clinic can jumpstart hair follicle activity and increase the length of the hair cycle. In short, this means the hair can be revived and grow thicker again naturally, significantly reducing the amount of hair fall you experience without side effects. This is where the New Hair Clinic can help.
Eva is continuously researching and updating her knowledge of hair loss, thinning, and scalp issues in order to provide a customised service with guaranteed results.
